Abstract
The primary purpose of this discussion is to provide basic information regarding the environmental setting of Papago floodwater-fed fields that have been visited in recent years, to better understand the historic ecology of Papago Indian subsistence in the Sonoran Desert. It also analyses more detailed information regarding the physiographic position of extant fields to correct an historic misuse of the Piman term 'Ak-ciñ by scientists.
