Abstract

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the U.S. Chronic heart failure (CHF) is the only major cardiovascular syndrome that is increasing in the U.S. It is considered the cardiovascular epidemic of the new millennium. As a result, CHF has been designated a national research priority.
