Abstract
Novel solutions of the wave and the Klein-Gordon equations are discussed. In contrast to conventional plane wave representations, these classical macro-photons and macro-particles are constructed from basis functions that are more localized in space-time. These solutions can be designed to give directed, localized transmission of energy. They also exhibit properties which may reconcile contemporary ideas of photon localization and causality.
