A semiclassical quantization of area-preserving maps

Abstract

A semiclassical path integral formalism is developed for a class of area-preserving maps. The quasi-energy spectrum of these systems is represented as a sum over closed orbits in the manner of Gutzwiller. The method is illustrated with some numerical tests of the "standard map".
