A selective and sensitive chemosensor for Cu2+ based on 8-hydroxyquinoline

Abstract

A novel 8-hydroxyquinoline derivative 3 was synthesized. Significant fluorescent quenching was found in the presence of Cu2+ and Hg2+ with notably higher selectivity for Cu2+ than Hg2+.
