Abstract

Improved spectrophotometry of Triton at 2.16 μm does not reveal an absorption feature due to liquid nitrogen. Either the absorption feature near this wavelength in the spectrum of this body is broader than expected for liquid nitrogen, or the liquid nitrogen is distributed nonuniformly over the surface.
