Abstract

According to Roshan Bastani, MD, Associate Director for Evaluation, Division of Cancer Control, University of California at Los Angeles, this paper describes ''a timely study, in light of the anticipated increase in demand for mammographic technologists created by the steadily increasing utilization of screening mammography nationwide. Perhaps the most important contribution of this study is the finding that there was great variability among technologists in mammography technique. This documents the need to conduct larger studies to explore this issue, as well as develop and test techniologist-training programs that will ensure the provision of quality mammography services.''
