Abstract
This article examines 2 related counseling constructs (working alliances and counseling expectancies) that can be used to enhance meaningful rehabilitation counselor-consumer partnerships. A conflict resolution approach for addressing discrepancies in counselor-consumer expectancies is then presented as a strategy for strengthening these working alliances. Finally, the implications for future rehabilitation counseling research are discussed.
