Abstract

A methodology for intelligent search of a CAD database of machinable components was presented. The methodology allowed retrieval of components with similar shape characteristics. It utilized qualitative matrices to represent spatial relationships between the maximal features of the query components. The feature-spatial relationships were then matched against those present in the database to achieve the desired goal.
