Abstract

A framework is being developed for simulation-based design of flexible manufacturing systems. The framework integrates generation of assembly plans, design and configuration of the manufacturing facility and equipment, synthesis of task-oriented robot programs, and simulation of a manufacturing system. Each layer is briefly summarized, and a simulation case study of a system for electric motor assembly is presented.
