Abstract
A technique for determining algebraic technological functions (ATF) relating the drawdown at wells to the quantity of water withdrawn from those wells is developed. The technique does not rely on the development of an analog or digital groundwater model to calculate the ATF's, nor does it rely on a determination of distributions of transmissivity and storage coefficient. The inputs are the time series of historical pumping and water levels, the distances between wells, the radius of the well, and the duration of a pumping period. A stepwise regression analysis is then used to determine the coefficients of the ATF. The functional form of the regression equation is based on standard results from groundwater analysis.
