title = "A combined experimental and numerical analysis of sandwich panels subjected to ballistic loads",
abstract = "In this study, the response of sandwich composites due to ballistic impact loading is investigated using peridynamic theory simulations. Three foam core materials with different densities are considered, and the effects of the core density on the damage sustained are examined. Effects of varying impact momentum and impact load distribution on damage and impulse are also considered. The numerical results are compared to results from previously conducted experiments, and good agreement exists between the two. The foam core with the lowest density is found to sustain the most delamination and cracking.",
