Abstract
Different parts of Hypericum mysorense have been examined for the presence of2,3-dimethoxyxanthone which comprised the major constituent of the timber. Presence of simple xanthones in this genus supports the classification of Hypericum in the subfamily Hypericoideae in Guttiferae.
