VERITAS Unoccupied Aircraft System (UAS) Surveys

Dataset

Description

This dataset contains products from unoccupied aircraft system (UAS) surveys conducted in Iceland as a component of field work by the Venus Emissivity, Radio Science, InSAR, Topography and Spectroscopy (VERITAS) Team in August 2023. Survey locations include sites at the 2014–2015 Holuhraun lava flow-field, the 1961 Askja lava flow and surroundings, and the 2021 Fagradalsfjall lava flow-field. All data is presented in the ISN2016 (EPSG:8088) coordinate reference system.Processing of the UAS images and generation of the products in this dataset was performed using Agisoft Metashape Pro software. In addition to the survey results, there are three key files:READ_ME_VERITAS_UAS_Surveys.docx: A Read Me file listing all file types and file names for the dataset.Processing_Data_VERITAS_UAS_surveys.xlsx: A summary table providing camera and processing information for all UAS surveys included in the dataset.METHODS_VERITAS_UAS_Surveys.docx: A document containing a description of the methodology used to acquire and process the data in this dataset. The UAS surveys were flown by Christopher Hamilton and processed by Brett Carr at the University of Arizona’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory (LPL).We acknowledge Nathan Hadland (LPL) and the entire VERITAS team for assistance in the field. We thank the Vatnajökull National Park Service (Vatnajökulsþjóðgarður) for providing permission to work in the Holuhraun region.
