Dataset

Description

This dataset includes monthly gross primary production (GPP), net ecosystem exchange (NEE), and evapotranspiration (ET) estimates for the western United States at 0.05° resolution for April 2015 through December 2020. Eddy covariance GPP, NEE, and ET observations from a network of 28 sites were upscaled using an ensemble of 560 artificial neural networks (ANNs) based on MODIS vegetation indices, MODIS land surface temperature, SMAP soil moisture/temperature, and Rangeland Analysis v3 sub pixel plant functional type fractional cover. The model ensemble captured >70% of the monthly variance in GPP and ET and ~35% for NEE. The model also captured 70-80% of the spatial variance in GPP and ET (~50% for NEE) and ~80-98% of the mean seasonal variance in GPP and ET at the majority of the eddy covariance sites.
